CK42 Trade Post: Walking Dead And Hoops

 CK42 TRADE POST:
THE WALKING DEAD AND HOOPS
30 Nov 2017
Updated 06 Oct 2023

New Offerings:
Yeah that says what it means.

For this quick and dirty trading post I am tossing into the trade ring a smallish lot of The Walking Dead Non-Sport cards. I don't watch the show so they hold no interest for me. I had gotten them from of all things a football team trade. The other trader included them as the bookend cards at the ends of the team bags, or outside the team bags. At any rate they were the outside cards from the little bundles of cards in the package. They are produced by Topps in 2017.

The cards listed in this series of posts are for trade or sale. If I don't mention a price feel free to give a reasonable offer. In some cases I might just feel like giving the cards away to a good home that will appreciate them. Not that I don't appreciate them, but the cards I list no longer fit into the scope of my collection. I don't "trash" cards anymore. It makes me cringe when I hear people talking about throwing trading cards into the garbage. If I can't find a home for cards I no longer want cluttering up my card hoard, I will have to toss them into the recycle bin.

Vintage Hoops 1973-74 Style

On 11 Feb 2012 I got a dozen Baltimore/Washington Bullets cards, well 8 were Bullets proper and 4 were Bullets players either Pre or Post-Bullets. Since I don't like posting too many cards at one time (I run into problems with the posting limit on the labels when I do that) I will divide this batch up by years which means two cards will be by their lonesome. So lets begin with the earliest a trio from 1973-74.

1973-74 Topps Basketball

1973-74 Topps Basketball 95 Elvin Hayes - Bullets

1973-74 Topps Basketball 158 Assists Leaders
Nate Archibald - Kings/ Len Wilkens - Cavaliers/ Dave Bing - Pistons

1973-74 Topps Basketball 170 Dave Bing - Pistons

Mayor Dave Bing 1975-76 Topps Basketball

1975-76 Topps Basketball
Dave Bing - Detroit Pistons

Here is a basketball card I've had since my childhood. As I said in my post about my Phil Chenier RC yesterday (well actually just a few minutes ago I'm scheduling these posts at a later time) I don't follow basketball anymore, but when I did the man on this card was one of my fave players. In 1975 he played for my fave homie team the Washington Bullets. I saw him play a few games during his career with the Bullets from 1975-'77. Not many but a few in fact at one game a friend and I attended we got to the "Cap Center" a little early and got to watch the warm-ups/shooting practice (or whatever basketball calls "batting practice") and got a close up look at some of the players including Dave. The Capital Centre was located in Landover, MD later renamed US Air Arena but I will always know it as the Cap Center. Sadly it no longer exists.

OH by the way Mr. Bing is now the Mayor of Detroit. When he was elected or started his campaign I blogged about it at my regular blog in the post titled "The Politics of Sports".

*A Homie team is the team located in your home city/town or area that you root for so calling them my "fave homie" team is a bit redundant. It gets the point across anyway.
