Autos From Hercules & Xena

 


Here is a nice little batch of some autograph cards from The Hercules & Xena Universe that I have had for sometime. It is four autographs all in Blue Sharpie. Two cards are inserts from the 2005 Rittenhouse "Hercules & Xena: The Animated Movie: The Battle For Mount Olympus" and the other 2 are from the 2001 Rittenhouse "Xena: Warrior Princess" Season 6 autograph list.

NCIS Rittenhouse Promo Cards


OK this is another very last minute day of the month type posts. I scanned the images of the cards in this post last night 30 March 2021 and  then did the drafting, writing of this post later today Wednesday 31 March 2021. An odd note: when I first started scanning the 4 promo cards (Oops Spoiler of what the post is about. LOL) for some reason my scanner was set for "automatic" scanning and I saw the rarely seen (by me) automatic scanning screens. I first was alerted when I saw the scanner's beginning prep screen was different than normal and was saying it was scanning image 1/3. UGH. It also had a note saying the scanner was in automatic mode and if you wanted to operate in manual mode hit "cancel". I probably should have kept the first scan image to show but I didn't. The scanner made 3 scans of the 4 cards laid out on my scanner's glass bed 2x2. The first image was of 2 cards one from the top row and one the bottom row since the cards were not properly squared on the bed they were at an odd angle and the scan only had partial images of the two skewed  cards. The other two scans were just of one card each and were well cropped and sized images of those cards that I could have used if I wished. Anyway I then started the scanner up again and switched to manual mode which I am used to and where I can make adjustments to how the scanner is scanning the images.

As you may have guessed from the title of this post and the top image this post is about the promo cards from the television show NCIS. The cards are from 2012 made by Rittenhouse. I do not have the set nor any of the star's autograph cards. I do have the Gibbs and Abby box topper cards that I blogged about ages upon ages ago. I don't have any other inserts other than these promo cards that I will now show. The second promo card P2 was from the trade magazine Non-Sport Update which I got from my copy of the magazine and was at one time the only promo card I had from this series. I then hit Ebay to acquire the other 3 cards and a dupe. Since I have the dupe I either got a full 4 card promo set or I got a couple of lots of one or two cards to get all 4. On a side note I do have the JAG set, a promo card from that set, and some auto cards from that set. I plan on someday blogging about those, but trying to decide how much of the set to scan and show.

Rittenhouse Continuum Promo Cards 2014-15 Seasons 1-3

For this quick and dirty post I am showing some promo cards that I got a few years back from Ebay in I forget how many different lots. I originally started this post thinking I only had one of the cards silly me. I wasn't sure if I had posted about these cards before. Looks like I haven't. I don't think I have the sets they are promoting. That could be part of why I held off on posting about them. They are for a Sci-Fi television show that lasted 4 seasons (I have seasons 1 and 2 on DVD need to find and get the other two). Fortunately when the series was cancelled the producers had time to write a series conclusion. Some series don't get that luxury as they get cancelled between production times. 

The series is Continuum a Sci-Fi series about a police officer from the future that finds herself in the past (our present) hunting down some terrorists from her time. The 2014 Rittenhouse Continuum Seasons One and Two card base set has 69 cards. There are a few insert sets including cast autograph cards. The 2015 Rittenhouse Continuum Season 3 set has 60 cards with the card numbers continuing from the previous set. For Season 3 I need promo cards P2 and P3. I'm not sure if they got around to do a Season 4 set. They might have but it isn't on Trading Card DataBase.

COTW: James Bond Classics Non-Sport Update Promo


Another month another quickie Card of the Whenever post. This one is from a 2016 Non-Sport Update I'm not sure exactly which one I don't think I had recorded it in my mail day posts specifically. Too many times I've just mentioned there were some bonus cards without naming specific cards. Then again this one was in a stack of cards that I had long ago freed from it's NSU plain envelope prison. This card a from Rittenhouse. NO not the evil secret organization from the now cancelled TV show Timeless the Non-Sport Trading Card maker.

The card is from the 2016 James Bond 007 Classics 72 card set. Actually it is a promo card for the set from Non-Sport Update Magazine numbered P2. It features Denise Richards as Dr. Christmas Jones from The World is Not Enough.

NCIS Box Toppers: Abby and Gibbs

I am real excited about these two cards I got from Ebay. It took a while to find them at a price I could afford, and on one of them I paid a bit more than I really wanted to but less than what it normally starts at. These two are a bit hard to find at a good price, since most sellers ask for way way too much. [What else is new?] So the scoop on these cards. They are from the Non-Sport trading cards powerhouse that is called Rittenhouse. If there are trading cards for a TV show or movie they are probably the company currently producing them.

These two beauties are the box toppers from the NCIS Premiere Edition Trading Cards. They were seeded one per box. The base set is only 36 cards from the first 72 episodes (The first 3 seasons plus the first two episodes from season 4) of the television show NCIS: Naval Criminal Investigative Service. One of my absolute FAVE shows, usually number One tied with The Blacklist. The characters are two of my faves and if either of them left the show they would have to end it - IMHO

I will show them in reverse order of arrival since the first one I received has a bit longer story to tell, and numerically it is the second of the two.

This first card, the second to arrive was at a manageable $20.00 BIN w/ $2.50 shipping.

Now this next one I went a little more nutso on. It originally had a BIN or BO (Best Offer) of $39.78 w/ $2.25 shipping. I wanted to offer $20 or $25, but I didn't want to risk being seen as low-balling and be totally ignored so I made an offer of $30.00 (approx. $10 lower) and the seller accepted it.

As you can see by the scan(s) it has a large gold "seal" to prove it is legit and hasn't been tampered with. When I first began seeing cards like this with their seals I thought it was great, but many of these seals are way too large cover up details that I would rather be able to see. For some sealed cards I plan on "unsealing"  them not worrying about any loss in value or prestige. Face it the seals are just another flashy gimmick. The image for the Gibbs card in the Ebay listing also showed a seal but it wasn't sent that way. I was a little bummed about that but Oh well as I said the seal is just a flashy gimmick.

Hogan Family Autos

I recently (relatively recently the way my blog-time goes) got some autographs from Ebay of The Hogan Family:
NO Not Hulk and his Clan, but their autos would be very cool brotha.
Nope not them either, although a Valerie Harper and/or Jason Bateman auto would be sweet.

Yep only not from there, but from here:
Michael Hogan and his real-life wife Susan Hogan guest starred on the Warehouse 13 episode "Nevermore" (Season 1, Episode 11) as Myka Bering's Parents. The father owns a used bookstore named "Bering and Sons", he wanted a son not a daughter. In a weird life and fiction thing Michael and Susan's son Gabriel appears in a few WH13 episodes as Sam Martino, Myka's late Secret Service Partner.

Back to the cards, I got the autos for pretty good prices, and as with many other auto cards I've seen them for much more and for super overinflated prices. Both cards are from the 2010 Rittenhouse Warehouse 13: Season One Autograph Insert Series. The autographs are not numbered. For series one I think all the autographs are the Farnsworth (a steampunk video communications device they use in the show) style design for the autographs later series sets have a second design with the actor's picture above a black border design (see my Two From Leena post to see that design). I got Michael's card first from an auction for $4.99 + FREE Shipping, Susan's card I got from a BIN (Buy It Now) for $7.50 + $3.00 shipping two days later. I paid for both at the same time. As with the two Genelle Williams cards, these were signed with blue sharpies. I think that is the standard for this series, and maybe for all Rittenhouse autographs.

NCIS Promo NSU


I have so many things that I want to blog about but have not gotten around to scanning or I had gotten so long ago I don't remember where I got them or how much I paid for them. So sometimes I won't bother with all that. This item is something I got recently enough that I could still find it in my card forum blog entries without any problems. Now the details for this are as follows: From Ebay I got a fresh unopened copy of Non-Sport Update Magazine Vol 23 No 3 with NCIS Cast on cover for $5.99 + $2.75 shipping it was sealed with the following promo cards:

2012 Cryptozoic The Walking Dead P2
2012 Cryptozoic Fringe P1
2012 Rittenhouse Game of Thrones Season One P2

Obviously from the cover I got this issue for the NCIS info since I'm a huge fan of that show. For those not familiar with the magazine it is a bi-monthly (meaning it comes out every other month so only 6 issues a year). It gives the latest info on upcoming Non-Sport Card releases and also includes a semi current price guide. Each issue also has a handful of promo cards, usually four.

Of the other three promo cards, two of them I am going to either trade or sell because I'm not interested in those card sets or the series they are based on. Those two are The Walking Dead and Game of Thrones Season One (I also have the NSU P2 promo card of Game of Thrones Season Two). I am undecided on the Fringe card I think I'll keep that one. I'm not sure which hoarding stack that card is in right now anyway.

As for NCIS well there are three other promo cards for that series  as well as the base cards which cover the first 72 episodes of the series or the first three seasons. I also plan on getting the Autograph cards from the series as well. Those who are familiar with the show know that it is a spin-off of the series J.A.G. (Judge Advocate General) I have the base card set for that one, but need to search for the Autos and any fun inserts. I need to research that set again and blog about the base set sometime. Just one of many many things to blog about eventually.

The NCIS series is made by Rittenhouse, which is the top player in Non-Sport cards now-a-days.

Two From Leena

In my quest to build my Rittenhouse Warehouse 13 collection, I have recently acquired a couple (read only 2) of the tons of autograph cards needed, both by the same actor. Both I got from Ebay auctions the first one I got (the newer one) took 2 bids it started at about $5bucks but ended up costing me $10.50 the other I got for the opening bid of $9.00 because I bid on it closer to the ending time. The actor in this case is the lovely Genelle Williams who played Leena the original bed and breakfast owner in the series. As far as I know they never gave Leena a last name. She had the psychic ability to read people's auras and helped manage the inventory in the Warehouse.

Both cards have the same black border autograph design but have a different photo of Genelle. The backs are nearly identical only the copyright date IDs which set the card is from. Things could get more confusing as the Season 2 set was released in 2011 but the card is dated 2010.

The Season 2 card actually cost the seller $5.60 to ship. It was well packaged not one of those cheesy PWE jobs. It was in one of those document sized priority mail envelopes as the outside envelope then a medium media mailing envelope like the old film development envelopes, then sandwiched between two pieces of card board then an invitation type envelope and finally in the "bonus" pack = the original serial numbered 6 card pack it came from (or one similar if not the exact one)

Warehouse 13 Cards NOTE: The autograph cards only have 2 different styles of design. There is the black border style and the Farnsworth (the video communications device from the series) style. Some actors seem to have an auto on each design, for each season, others seem to have 2 on one design with a different photo. It maybe confusing for me to know what I really have of them then. Also the limited numbers of all the different types of cards make it very difficult for me to get these cards let alone get them for a decent price.

I am a bit annoyed at Rittenhouse for making so few of the base cards for the later seasons, not only in the number of cards in the sets only 26, but also in the limited numbers they made them in only about 250? Serial Numbered? OK so it seems the packs were serial numbered? Very strange very limited way to do things. This super short printing of stuff is really ticking me off about this hobby that I have been a part of most of my life.
