1970s Football Magazines Question

Valerie Bertinelli from "One Day A Time" in a John Riggins Redskins jersey.
I had a Sonny Jurgensen Jersey that style when I was a kid.
I no longer have the shirt but I do have a few pictures of me in the jersey.

I seem to recall that back in the late 1960s early 1970s there was a Football magazine that had some pinup or centerfold like photos of models wearing just football jerseys. It might have just come out at the beginning of the football season, maybe it was Playboy's football preview for the preseason or one of the regular Football magazines preseason issue, but I am about 90% certain it was a football oriented magazine not a men's magazine. My Brother had them and I am not sure if he remembers the magazine he might remember the photos/posters, but I'm not sure if he would recall the exact magazine. The reason I think it might have been just a special preseason issue is there didn't seem to be very many of these. I think it was also one of these one model/picture per issue thing. I think maybe they had four at the most, although I think my brother only had two.  Maybe it was because the magazine folded? I don't think it was a one-shot parody. This has been driving me nuts for years trying to figure this out.

Now-a-days with all the various porn magazines and online websites the sexy image of a girl in nothing but a sports jersey is about as common as a sports card from the late 1980s, or pictures of cats on the internet. Back in the sixties (or seventies) however it wasn't too overdone. These particular magazine images I'm looking for were tastefully done no nudity (at least I think there was no nudity). Color photo not drawing.
Kind of like this except not as provocative.
The pinups were of beautiful girls in a football jersey that is big enough for them to use as a nightgown, the way this image used to be done, now they tend to wear cut-off Jerseys to show more skin. I don't recall all the details, they might have had on white shorts or panties under the jersey, but I think they had nothing, or gave that illusion of nothing. The pinups I am looking for also might have had them holding a football, or with a football helmet, holding the helmet or lying near one or perhaps wearing it.
Something more along these lines, except shot in a photography studio.
Or like this. She sure is cute.
I seem to recall one of them was a blond with long hair in a straight style of the time wearing a white jersey of the Dolphins, Bills, Chargers or some other team's white jersey, either holding a ball or a helmet of that team.

Like many older pinups pre 1980s the effect was sexy without lingerie or showing too much skin. Yeah it was more like Gwen Verdon in Damn Yankees (and the promos) than anything from today.
UPDATE: If I recall correctly the main part of the magazine was black and white on newspaper type stock paper. The "centerfold" or "pinup" whatever you want to call it was the only thing in color. Of course since my memories are 40 some years from the mind of a 5 or 6 year old reality might be very different from the stored memory. Apparently six years ago I had asked about these things on the Ebay sports forums and a trading card forum with no replies or results.

Texas Bikini Team 1995 Edition

This is my second attempt at this post the first one the automatic html was acting weird and I deleted a formatting line resulting in text getting printed over anything that followed it in the post so that the image that followed the text had text overtop of the image. UGH. I hate that you can't go back and reinsert something you just deleted while working within the post creating section. Anyway enough of my technology impairments. You just wanna see necked women, well not quite necked this is a PG Rated Blog.

On Monday 02 April 2012 I got several packages from various sources one was an Ebay auction for a small set of 9 cards. I got the set for $12.69 + 86¢ I went into a little detail about the auction with a brief description of the set (actually it was briefer than the bikinis that are shown) in my Maildays 01-07 April post. Now onto the set:

Texas Bikini Team 1995 Edition
Intro Set by Image 2000

This little Nine card set was released in 1995 by Image 2000 is titled as an "Intro Set", I'm not sure but I think this is the only set that was made of this potential series. As you can see the set contains 1 title card and 8 cards with bikini models on them.

The card set is designed to be placed in a 9 pocket binder sleeve page in numerical order, because as you see all the backs have puzzle pieces that make up a nine card image (The model shown is Hope from card number 3).

Card Puzzle Backs:
Top Row: 3, 2, 1 Middle Row: 6, 5, 4 Bottom Row: 9, 8, 7

The backs of the cards don't quite align up if you place them flush against each other, they are cut to allow a tiny border space for placing and displaying in a binder as I said above. If they were framed and mounted with perfect alignment the image would look like you are viewing Ms. Hope through a window. My scan of the backs isn't perfect but its close maybe I should have tried scanning it in a binder page.

Now onto the individual cards. The cards are numbered with an "I-" preceding the card number (except for card number 5 the title card and middle puzzle piece card) the "I" being for "Intro" or maybe "Inaugural" but more likely "Intro". The numbers are in the white corner of a red, white and blue Texas shaped logo with the model's name in white at the bottom of the logo. All these Midwest Ladies are modeling the same red, white and blue bikini honoring the Texas State Flag. There are 8 models and 5 are wearing a single gun holster accessory, 2 of them are holding the gun, 1 is holding a coil of rope, 3 are wearing white cowboy hats, 3 have a cape/jacket/blanket wrapped draped on them and 1 is shown wearing white cowboy boots I'm guessing all of them are actually wearing the boots but you can't see most of them below their knees.

Maildays 01 - 07 April

MAILDAYS
01 - 07 April 2012
(Weekly Round UP)

I'm not sure how long I'll be able to keep up with this sort of thing or if I'll be able to manage it as I am planning on managing it. Anyway I already somewhat track my card "maildays" over at my TCC Blog. When I had time and wanted to be fancy I would add pictures there but I haven't done that for a long time. On this blog I think I will do the same sort of simultaneous tracking. Only on here it will be a weekly post and I'll try to add more pictures. I don't add pictures much on the forum blog anymore. Depending on the size of the maildays I might have to have the occasional one day additional posting or maybe one day postings only. Well the future tells that tale.

2009 Monsters vs. Aliens 8 card ComicCon promo set base on the movie sealed (will unseal to see cards but scan while sealed to show how it came) got it for $4.99 + $3 shipping. I will blog about this set soon.

Next an item that started with an opening bid of $1.00. I think I got shilled $1 dollar under my max. there was one other bidder who bid in sort increments during the last minute. I could have been a snipe attempt it is hard to tell the difference now-days on "The Bay". There were a total of 4 bids. That is one of the things I hate about bidding a day or two early, but sometimes it's necessary for me to get a chance to win (I can't always monitor when auctions end). I ended up paying $12.69 + 86¢ shipping. I saw one set of this selling for an outrageous price of $66.99 for this very same 9 card set:

Image 2000 Texas Bikini Team Intro set: 1995 Edition 9 card set, backs make up a puzzle. Yeah definitely need a post about this set in all it's glory.

SATURDAY 07 APRIL

Got a sportlots order of the 2012 Topps Opening Day set of 220 cards. Number 220 Carlos Lee Astros has no number on it. I think this is an UER. I noticed other people have been questioning this and it seems every card on Ebay is unnumbered. I got the set for 25¢ + 17.00 shipping. Yeah that sucks it only cost the seller $5.10 to send in a thin bubble mailer (that got a little torn in my apt mailbox which is the one the delivery person opens up the whole bank of boxes from) the set itself was safe in a small 400ct card box.

Also included were some "Diamond Giveaway" Code cards. even if I wanted to use the codes they expired 31 Jan 2012. They might be fun to collect as novelty cards the ones I got are numbers: TDG 3, 4, 15, 17, 22, 23, 24, 27

Then from blogger Nick at Dime Boxes (who I had sent some Vladimir Guerrero cards) I got some nice A&G minis from 2011 Allen & Ginter all but one of them are baseball players the non baseball player is a women's basketball player:

A Little Eye Candy

Not sure of the history of this particular card, so I can't give many details about it. I'm not even sure when it was made or the series it may have come from. Kathy Ireland got her claim to fame by being a Sports Illustrated Swimsuit model and was the even more prestigious cover model on the 25th Anniversary Issue. She still has that cute "innocent/not-so-innocent girl next door" look about her. About all I can say about this card is I got it from Ebay (of course) in June of 2008 and paid $10 delivered Max. I think I got if for $5 - $7 can't remember the exact price. Even though it looks black in the scan her facsimile signature and the partial borders are gold.

That same day (02 June 2008) I got a  sexy Manon Rheaume card a 1993 Ballstreet card. OK so it's not as sexy and she's not in a swimsuit (neither is Kathy on that card), she's wearing a long sleeved sweatshirt and khaki shorts. Apparently that was an insert/freebie or attached to an issue of Ballstreet Magazine. So maybe the Kathy Ireland card is a similar deal (a card that was an insert to a magazine)

I didn't scan the back of the Manon card. I had scanned the front a few years back and it is in my photobucket but forgot I had it there., but not the back. I don't like to use my photobucket for the images in my blogs because PB gets blocked at work and I sometimes like to do edits and check how things look at work from a different machine than the one I post stuff from.

[Update: work no longer blocks photobucket but I still tend to forget what I have there and neglect it. I would delete most of the stuff there but I don't know what (if any) images I have linked from there to this or other blogs I have]

EDITED: To add scan of Manon Rheaume card back.
